Does your website evoke TRUST

February 21st, 2012

If your website visitors don’t trust you then they won’t use your services…. it’s as simple as that.

If your site looks a bit dodgy or doesn’t provide basic information then visitors will move on and use your competitors.  Five things you can do to evoke trust in your website are:

1: Show that your website represents a real company.

Make sure your website as your postal address and phone numbers clearly found (preferably on every page) If your customers don’t know where you are or how to contact you by phone they wont trust you and therefore won’t use your services. You can even add your ABN / ACN  to the footer of the website.

2: Show your visitors why your business is better

Clearly define on your website why your visitors should use you rather than your competitors.  What sets you apart from the rest.  Exhibit a code of ethics, testimonials, or why your products are superior that your competitors.

3: Let your visitors know that other people have used your products / services.

Reassure your visitors that your products or services work and have been tested.  Display Awards, Testimonials and FAQ’s clearly on your website.  Show how other people have benefited from using your services.

4: Offer visitors guarantees

Eliminate the risk of using your products or services.  Offer visitors guarantees or 30 day return policies so that using you is 100% risk free.  This gives visitors reassurance that you are highly credible.

5: Give em something for FREE

Offer your visitors something for FREE.  It could be an extra item if one is purchased. It could be a free E-Book or document download related to your business that helps the visitor.  You could even enter them into a weekly draw in exchange for their contact details.

Distribute IT Hosting Services now Transferred to New Hosting Company

June 21st, 2011

After a malicious attack on the Distribute IT Data Centre infrastructure, they have advised us that they are no longer providing co location hosting services. I.W.S. are now currently moving our servers to a new location and can offer continued secure hosting services to our valued clients and to any new clients looking for an alternative hosting company.

We have been with Distribute IT for about 8 years and have found them to be a great company to work with. Their service has been impeccable, and I wish them well for the future. It’s a shame that something like this has happened to a company like Distribute IT.

All the best guys,

Cannibal Creek Winery Launches New Website

May 23rd, 2011

The Cannibal Creek Movement…..

The corks are popping at Cannibal Creek Winery today as we launched their new website.   Their website features the ability to purchase wines online, sign up to their social networks, and gather information about their fantastic wines as well as view images of their winery.

Located in a beautiful part of Gippsland (at the foothills of the Black Snake Ranges) they hand pick their grapes to make a range of premium boutique wines.  (Cannibals, Snakes, who named these places?)

Congratulations to Patrick and Kirsten on their new website.

Well Done Australia, we’ve reached 2 million .au domain names

March 10th, 2011

Australia’s Internet community celebrated a significant milestone the other night with the registration of the two millionth .au domain name.

The milestone follows strong growth in registrations over the past 10 years and places .au in the top 10 largest country codes in the world. This is a testament to the strength and stability of the namespace and its value to the Australian community.

Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy Senator Stephen Conroy said today’s milestone was further evidence of Australia’s growing digital economy.

“The digital economy is the future and I’m pleased to see more Australians getting an online presence,” said Senator Conroy. “The Internet offers incredible opportunities to businesses, organisations and individuals and the continued growth of the .au domain shows how much Australians are embracing the online world in almost all aspects of their lives.

Chris Disspain, CEO of auDA, said all Australians should be proud of the strong online community we have created through .au.

“There were only about 275,000 .au domains registered when auDA introduced a new competition model in 2002. Now we are celebrating two million registrations and this wouldn’t have been possible without the policy reforms and marketing activities auDA have implemented, or without the technical and operational expertise AusRegistry has brought to the industry,” Mr Disspain said.

Beware of Internet Scams…..

March 7th, 2011

Hey! it’s the Australasian Consumer Fraud Taskforce (ACFT) National Consumer Fraud Week.

This important initiative raises business and consumer awareness of the economic, personal and social threats posed by fraud.

Running from 7 to 13 March, this year’s initiative is titled, ‘Scams: It’s Personal’ and focuses on the personal impact of scams and how we can fight fraud that occurs on the home front.

The effects of scams on victims can be devastating, potentially causing psychological, financial, familial and social harm. Scams can also have a considerable impact on business, with fraudsters’ misuse of people’s trust in reputable brands or companies having the power to shake consumer confidence to the core.

Some tips ACFT suggest to keep scammers at arm’s length include:

PROTECT YOUR IDENTITY

Your personal details are private and invaluable – keep them that way and away from scammers

DON’T RESPOND

Ignore suspicious emails, letters, phone calls or text messages – press ‘delete’, throw them out or just hang up

DON’T LET SCAMMERS PUSH YOUR BUTTONS

Scammers will play on your emotions to get what they want

RESIST THE PERSONAL TOUCH

Watch out for scammers posing as someone that you know and trust, or pretending to know you

Google Loves the Aussie NBN

February 20th, 2011

According to ABC News Online today:

Google boss Eric Schmit praises the Australian NBN.  Speaking at a conference in Barcelona, chairman Eric Schmidt says Australia has shown great leadership on the issue.

“Australia is leading the world in understanding the importance of fibre,” he said.

“Your new Prime Minister has announced that 93 per cent of Australians, which I guess are all the folks in the cities, will have gigabit or equivalent service using fibre, and the other 7 per cent will be handled through wireless services of a nature of LTE,” he said.

“This is leadership from Australia, which I think is wonderful.”

Although Federal Opposition communications spokesman Malcolm Turnbull says he does not believe the National Broadband Network (NBN) will ever be completed.

All I know is that if it does get completed Australia will be at the forefront of technology development and the envy of the online world.

Bring it on I say….
