I am not usually one to hang my political views from the mast, however I feel very strong about the National Broadband Network and the potential it has to advance Australia in so many areas. We are on the cusp of something extraordinary in this country. Super fast broadband to everyone's house. The possibilities are endless, and the Tech companies will be lining up to develop applications that will not only create jobs, but make Australia a hub for high tech appliances and internet businesses.

Although Wireless has its merits it is by no means in the same league as fibre optics. Data travels along fibre optics at the speed of light. There's not much faster that that. As the technology grows we just need to change the infrastructure at each end cable stays the same. With wireless, the more people using the system the slower it becomes and it will never be able to match the speeds of fibre optics.

I might have a bias on this subject however it will affect everyone's life in one way or the other. If we pander to the Coalitions sabotage of this nation building program, we are destined to be followers in the world and it will be decades before and opportunity like this will come around again.

Lets band together to see this exciting new infrastructure come to fruition.

The answer is To NBN....

The research shows us that Internet Explorer has 62% of market share down from 68.2% last March.  At the same time Google Chrome gained 1.6% up to 5.2% and Firefox gained 1% to 24.4% as did Safari to 4.5%.

It show us that IE6 has dropped 11% while IE8 gained from 1% upt to 22.4% which is more than any other browser over the same period.

What does it all mean?

Well from our perspective at I.W.S. it's important that your web developer designs your website so it is compatible with all browsers on all platforms.  We come across many sites that where designed for IE back when it held 85% of the market and now these sites perform badly when viewed in alternative browsers.

Our prediction is that IE will continue to loose market share and it is paramount that your website is designed to perform well across all browsers

As we fast approach the end of 2009 it’s time to reflect on the past year and all that it has given us. Let me see now, Australia lost the Ashes, we have had a Global Financial Crisis, Black Saturday, mmmmm… ooh! I know, Rudd welcomed home the Stolen Generation and we are heading for brighter times. I must say, I am looking forward to 2010 and the positive economic vibe that is emerging in most businesses that I talk to. There is a lot happening in the online world and as our internet connections get faster, the technology gets better. There’s a lot to look forward to.

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving and being married to a Canadian we celebrated in style.  Being an ex chef I decided to make Turducken after seeing it featured on the TV show Spicks and Specks. Not only did we make a 'Turducken' but we made a 'Bacon Turducken'.  

This is a Turkey breast filled with a Duck breast filled with chicken mousse and wrapped in Pancetta.  The North American version uses whole birds however I preferred to use just the breasts.  It sound a bit gross, however it was actually fantastic.  The flavours complemented each other and it was both delectate and moist. A real winner...
